PALOS VERDES HIGH SCHOOL

PARKING RULES

PVHS has a limited number of parking spaces available. All parking is on a first come, first serve basis. Possession of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space. We strongly recommend carpooling whenever possible. When the lots are full, you MUST park off campus. DO NOT DOUBLE PARK OR BLOCK OTHER CARS IN THE LOTS. Those cars are subject to citation and towed at the owner’s expense!

You must have a parking pass to park on campus. Do not park in any assigned spot on campus. Any vehicle parked without authorization is subject to citation and towing. All visitors must check in with the Main Office and park in spaces designated for visitors.

ALL STAFF parking spaces are reserved from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. No students or parents are allowed to park in staff or reserved parking spaces or in areas by the Gym during these hours. You will be cited.

DO NOT PARK AT ANY TIME in the handicapped, bus zones, visitor spaces, emergency entrances, or any place that is NOT a designated parking spot.

Students who park in the handicapped spaces must have a valid handicapped placard and registration from the CA DMB displayed clearly in their vehicle with the current DATE showing. PVPD can and will cite students who have been issued a placard but do not have it posted. Students also need to show proof of handicapped registration and placard to the nurse and administration.

All cars must be locked and windows closed.

Students may not go to their cars during the school day for any reason. Doing so may result in loss of permit and/or lunch detention.

Selling or sharing of parking permits is not allowed under any circumstances, and will result in loss of parking on campus privileges.

Any vehicle without a permit displayed will receive a citation from School Security or PVPD. This includes permits that are not clearly visible.

A donation of $20 for a parking permit is suggested. If a student loses their permit, they will be charged a $10 replacement fee.

The City of Palos Verdes Estates has limited parking around Palos Verdes High School. Parking on Paseo Del Mar will now be restricted as well as the south side of Cloyden Road. A map of the “Restricted Parking Zone” (RPZ) around the high school is above (click to enlarge).

Parking is available on campus and on the streets directly adjacent to the school (Cloyden Road, Via Pacheco, and Epping Road). Additional parking spaces have been added on campus and public parking is available at the Lunada Bay Little League Field, along Palos Verdes Drive West and Via Coronel.

We encourage students and parents to consider other alternatives to driving to campus, including carpooling. As an incentive, there are parking spaces in the front parking lot specifically designated for students who carpool. Please remember, many young students are restricted by the California Vehicle Code from having passengers in the car when they are driving.

You are encouraged to consider:

  • Using PV Transit – Information about schedules and rates can be found
    at www.palosverdes.com/pvtransit.
  • Walking.
  • Riding a bike — a secure bike rack is available near the main office.

Finally, to improve traffic flow on and off the campus, parents and students must enter the school campus from Cloyden Road and exit on Epping Road from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Employees are encouraged to enter the school at the service road entrance on Epping Road.
