For the 2018-2019 school year the Incoming freshman parent presentations will be held on March 20th  at 8:30 am in the MPR.

The purpose of this presentation is to introduce parents to a variety of high school topics. There will be a general overview of the counseling program, the typical high school day and graduation requirements.

Counselors will also discuss College entrance requirements, including the A-G courses. A description of the course registration process will be covered in detail, including typical freshman courses, how to select your student’s courses and the counselor’s program at the intermediate school.



The Sophomore Parent Presentation covers a variety of information regarding College admission, graduation requirements, and College admission testing including the PSAT, SAT, Subject Tests, PLAN and ACT.


Counselors will also discuss the importance of finding a College that matches a student’s interests and strengths. There will also be a brief overview of Naviance, a web-based program that assists students in the research and management of the College process.


For the 2018-2019 School year the Sophomore parent presentations will be held on February 6th at 8:30AM and 6:30PM in the MPR. Both presentations will cover the same information so parents should join us for the presentation that best fits their schedule.


For the 2018-2019 School year the Junior Parent Presentations will be held on January 23rd at 8:30AM in the MPR. The purpose of this presentation is to review graduation requirements, College admissions information, testing information, and the letter of recommendation procedures. Counselors will discuss the importance of finding an appropriate College match for the student and topics to consider when developing a College list. Services from the College and Career Center and the Naviance program will also be reviewed. Counselors will discuss in depth the College application process, including types of admission options, eligibility index vs. committee selection, and parts of the application folder. Finally, counselors will also briefly cover other program information such as NCAA requirements, essays and personal statements, and College visits.


For the 2018-2019 School year the Senior Parent Presentations will be held on September 12th at 8:30AM in the MPR. The PVHS counselors will be discussing graduation requirements, college admission requirements, the college admission process, the letter of recommendation process and much more!
