Jill played an integral role in developing and writing the California Department of Education SSP grant application which has provided funding for the implementation of the Mindfulness courses at Palos Verdes High. She also authored Palos Verdes High School’s Green Ribbon School Applications (Gold Level 2018, Silver Level 2017).
She is a 2018 graduate of
Mindful Schools Mindful Teacher Certification Program. She has also had training in
Mindfulness for Student Athletes, Mindful Self Compassion, and the
Science of Well-Being. She has co-developed the
Mindful Studies program with Tammi Sheridan and they are currently co-teaching
Introduction to Mindfulness at PVHS. She considers herself a lifelong student of mindfulness.
She holds a B.A. and an M.S. in Biology from California State University, Fullerton. She previously taught at Cabrillo High in Long Beach.
She has been using mindfulness to help reduce some of the stress associated with raising a family and having a career, as well as navigating the sea of life. After Jill started practicing mindfulness, she felt a sense of “why didn’t anybody teach this to me earlier in life?” She developed a strong desire to share mindfulness with students and give them the tools she wished she had been given earlier in life.
