Student Support In An Ever-Changing World
The PVHS Counseling Team is aware of and sensitive to the ever-changing world which our students experience daily. We prioritize students’ mental health and well-being and work effortlessly to help students find happiness and balance in their academic and social lives at school and outside. Counselors take into consideration topics teenagers face such as stress, academic pressure, peer or family pressure, bullying, social media, anxiety, depression, and more, and incorporate these themes into the support we do with each student whether individually, in groups, or classroom-wide lessons and parent presentations.
Who Is My Counselor?
PVHS Counselors are available and happy to connect with our students and families. Students are assigned a counselor by last name and stay with that counselor throughout their high school years, building strong, personalized relationships and consistent support.
We may be reached by phone at (310) 378-8471 ext. 43238 (Counselor extensions below) and email (preferred)
How Do I See My Counselor?
Student Walk-Ins:
- Complete a pink Request to See Counselor form. Once filled in with all the necessary information, submit form to your counselor's box and return to class. Your counselor will call you in to the Counseling Office at their earliest opportunity.
- Note: We cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet with your counselor at the time of your drop-in. If we missed you, please be sure you leave a pink Request form or email your counselor!
Student Appointments:
- Email your counselor to schedule an appointment.
- Day of appointment: Wait for your counselor to summon you via call slip from class. Be sure to let your teacher know if you will be missing class for a meeting with your counselor so you gather any important information you will miss during class.
- When you arrive to the Counseling Office, sign in and let the Administrative Assistant know you have arrived to meet with your counselor.
Parent/Guardian(s) Appointments:
- We appreciate all the support our parent/guardian(s) provide our school and students. We want to make sure we can give you the time and attention you deserve when you meet with us. Please contact your student's counselor to schedule an appointment first.
- Please kindly refrain from coming to the Counseling Office unannounced as counselors cannot guarantee their availability.
- Day of appointment: when you arrive to the Counseling Office, let the Administrative Assistant know you have arrived to meet with your student's counselor and we will meet with you shortly.
