Covid-1 Still-life.
 
Create a still life from home that reflects our feelings during these uncertain times.  I found this amazing assignment from Ryman Arts and is designed for making art during the lockdown. Please read through the attached document to find links to exemplary artworks showing a range of how artists have interpreted still lifes. 
As you are making your still life drawing, remember to document and reflect upon your process
Presenting your final drawing and process:
 
5 photos documenting your artmaking experience. Include still life set up, and 2-3 in-progress photos of your drawing as well as a picture of your finished drawing.
Short written labels describing the pictures, a 1 paragraph description of the final project. You may use the following prompts to guide your writing:
 
-What is tour favorite part of the drawing, Why?
-Would you change anything if you could? What would it be? 
-How might you expand on this?
 
Turning it in
 
-Download your document as a PDF.
-Upload to the google drive class folder titled COVID still life
-Rename and label the file: Last name_COVID still life_class period
 
Participation: 
Read and comment on at least two peer artworks. Provide specific feedback and helpful resources. Use comments and action items. in google drive.

Big Idea: What happens over time?
 
Assignment: Create an artwork that incorporates the concept of time.
 
Part 1:
Explore and reflect upon the following resources covering the exploration of time in art. Follow the link here: Time in art rescourcres
Briefly Write about 3 takeaways from the sources. Consider why they interested you, and how you might be able to apply to a future artwork. 1-2 paragraphs.
 
Part 2:
Sketch and design and artwork that uses the concept of time. Please do not put a clock in any part of the piece.  It's too obvious- think outside of the box. Photograph the visual. 
 
Part 3:
Media play. Choose the media you will work with to create your time-based artwork.
 
If you choose to make something 3-d or sculptural, follow this link for alternative 3-D art. Here you can find unconventional ways to make art from a newspaper and other recycled materials. 
 
Make experiments and technique practices on a piece of paper if you are working 2-d. If you plan to build a sculpture or installation, or practice attaching and building. Photograph your experimentation.
 
Part 4:
Complete your piece.and reflect on the making of it. Answer the following questions: Why did you choose to make this, How did it go, How does time play into the making of this work.
 
Presenting your work:
Present parts 1-4 on in slideshow, google doc, or PowerPoint presentation.
 
 
Turning it in:
 
-Download your document as a PDF.
-Upload to the google drive class folder titled Time
-Rename and label the file: Last name_Time_class period
 
Participation:

Grading:
Content: All content for the assignment is fully developed according to the assignment requirements.
Synthesis: Original thoughts and reflections are a product of connecting the resources to personal experiences and ideas.  
Message: Language style, including diction and tone, is effective. The message is detailed and organized, and written evidence supports visual evidence.
Quality: Writing is proofread and contains no spelling or grammatical errors. Text and imagery work well together and are overall aesthetically pleasing to look at.
 
Participation: Two developed peer responses posted to two classmates’ assignments. Developed peer responses include specific feedback, details, or references to outside resources.
