It is essential during your first year of high school to establish a strong academic foundation. It is normal to experience a new level of academic challenge when starting high school coursework. Your counselors have made it our priority to support students with their transition and focus our freshmen guidance curriculum on bolstering academic success.

 

On October 7 & 8, 2024, Freshmen students received their first guidance lessons of high school! Counselors reviewed the many reasons students can see their counselor, how the high school transcript works, and mental health supports available at PVHS. Counselors also discussed with students what it means to be a Sea King and positive traits these qualifies reflect, organization strategies for success, and how to find your passion in high school. The lesson wrapped with a long-standing PVHS tradition of having students write a confidential letter to their senior self. Letters are sealed in an envelope addressed to the student and will be returned to them at their graduation along with their diploma.
