Freshmen Counseling Services Overview
It is essential during your first year of high school to establish a strong academic foundation. It is normal to experience a new level of academic challenge when starting high school coursework. Your counselors have made it our priority to support students with their transition and focus our freshmen guidance curriculum on bolstering academic success.
Freshmen Handbook
The Freshmen Handbook introduces freshmen students and their families to the day-to-day at Palos Verdes High School. In this handbook, students will learn how to see their counselor, request a course change, utilize the Four-Year Plan checklist and review the high school graduation requirements, as well as learn about the support and services they receive from their counselor.
Freshmen Individual Meeting
Each February/March, all freshmen students will meet individually with their counselor to review their four-year plan, academic progress, and schedule their classes for 10th grade.

College Day SchooLinks Presentation
Attached is the SchooLinks presentation given on October 13, 2021 to Freshmen and others who were interested in activating their SchooLinks account. The first step is to complete the Onboarding, which is the Find Your Path assessment. Students swipe through a series of questions which provides results in various categories. From there, students can customize their potential college, career, and other interests based on these results.
Freshmen Meet & Greet
The counselors really enjoyed meeting our Freshmen during our lunch time meet and greet lessons. If you were unable to attend the meeting we recommend reviewing the below powerpoint that details important information regarding graduation requirements, what colleges look for and how to get involved in activities.
