FINANCIAL AID NIGHT: Understanding Financial Aid!
Tuesday, October 15, at 6:30 pm
Please join the PVHSCCC for this VIRTUAL presentation by
Stephanie Hancock, Founder of College AidWorks.
When exploring colleges, students typically look at the personal/academic fit, but it's important to also consider financial fit. The financial fit is the likelihood that a college will be affordable to you and your family after receiving merit scholarships and/or other forms of financial aid. This is essential information for our seniors/juniors and their families. But all grade levels are encouraged to attend to attain a better understanding of financial aid.
Four main topics relating to financial aid for college will be discussed: sources/types of financial aid that are available, how schools determine eligibility, how to apply, and how to find/apply to merit scholarships.
Our speaker, Stephanie Hancock has been a financial aid consultant for more than 20 years. She is also the host of a “College Aid Night at Noon”, a recently launched monthly live stream show. As a high school senior, Stephanie’s goal was to study biomedical engineering at Rice University. She was accepted but was unable to attend due to a lack of funding. Years later, a client seeking assistance with a FAFSA felt like a full circle moment and College Aid Consulting, the predecessor to College AidWorks was born. Since then, Stephanie, a self-proclaimed Financial Aid Crusader, has helped thousands of families on their quest for affordable college. She is a frequent guest speaker at high schools and various organizations. She’s been interviewed about financial aid and FAFSA on KTLA Channel 5 Morning News Show and Midday News on WGNTV in Chicago.
***Please note that a FAFSA Walk-Through will take place in November to help families navigate this form. The FAFSA will NOT become available to our Senior Class of 2025 until December 1 unless otherwise noted. ***
