Concussion Awareness and Protocols

Concussions, suspected concussions, and head injuries are very serious issues that can arise during athletics. The following resources are available and provide information pertaining to concussions and protocols put in place by the CIF and PVHS.

Most importantly, athletes and parents need to communicate with our training staff and coaches if there are any concerns or symptoms.

Concussion Base-line Assessment

In July of 2016, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District approved an agreement with ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) Application, Inc. for concussion base-line assessments. The ImPACT test is trusted by sports teams, schools, corporations, hospitals, and clinics. ImPACT is the most widely used computerized neurocognitive test to help evaluate and manage concussions. It is used by more than 7,400 high schools, 1,000 colleges and universities, 900 clinical centers, 475 Credentialed ImPACT Consultants, 200 professional teams, and select military units, expressly so medical clinicians, and other qualified healthcare providers, can better manage this injury.
Since 2006 over 10 million ImPACT tests have been administered to over 7.5 million individuals worldwide.
