Four-Year Plan / Common Course Pathways

Four-Year Planning and Common Course Pathways

Each year, counselors meet with students to review their course requests for the next school year. Included in this process is four-year planning which comprises of discussing with the student their post-secondary goals and tailoring course requests to meet these goals. Four-year plans are flexible and can be adjusted based on the student's goal at any given time. Four-year planning helps create a high school schedule that meets high school graduation requirements and college entrance eligibility requirements by breaking down courses needing to be taken into respective grades and met with achievable goals. You may reference a sample blank four year plan with both high school graduation and college entrance (A-G) requirements below.

Common Course Pathways

Below are videos and the respective image detailing the Common Course Pathways in each subject area. These are to help understand different ways students can accomplish their academic goals throughout high school. Each path is unique for individual students and are not one size fits all. It is important that students work with your counselor to determine the best class fit for you and understand how to meet your requirements, both for graduation from high school and appropriate postsecondary plans.
