What is SNHS?
The purpose of this organization is to encourage participation in and recognition of scientific and intellectual thought. It is to advance the students’ knowledge of classical and modern science, to communicate with the scientific community, and to aid the civic community with its comprehension of science. It is to encourage students to participate in community service and, in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all mankind. Throughout the year, students will meet at our general meetings once a month to hear guest speakers and student board speakers discuss relevant topics in science. Members are also required to participate in science outreach opportunities and encouraged to be involved with our science competition teams.
What are the requirements?
The PVHS Chapter opens membership to students in 11th or 12th grade who have taken a science honors or AP course to 10th grade students as provisional members.
The criteria are as follows:
- Must maintain an overall minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0
- Must maintain a minimum unweighted Science GPA of 3.5
- Must currently be enrolled in an Honors or AP Science Class in application year
- Seniors and Juniors must have at least TWO Honors or AP level science classes taken before or during their respective years
- Sophomores must have completed one Honors or AP level science class
- Must completed the required attendance and volunteer hours (5 pts./semester) to be in good standing

Follow the instructions on the Google Form and bring your unofficial transcript (Aeries printout ok) with science class grades highlighted and unweighted GPA highlighted along with a $15 check made payable to PVHS ASB with “student name-Science NHS” written on memo line to Mrs. Maemoto’s room (RM 314) by 10/9/23.
Once you are notified you have been accepted, you will send in the $15 dues to Patty Camp, Student Store, either by mail or directly.
